Sister Lovers to Release Debut EP

2010 has proven to be a hugely successful year for Sister Lovers. The Cavan based band opened the year supporting Cathy Davey, before the release of her No.1 record in McGinnities Cellar Bar. In March, they were asked to play support for London musician, Kate Nash in the Academy, Dublin. Subsequently they were offered a summer tour around Europe playing to packed out venues such as the Grosse Fr...eiheit, Hamburg, where the Beatles learned their trade, La Cigale in Paris, The Paradiso in Amsterdam and a memorable set in the Botanique in Brussels, Leading Belgium music magazine to comment “ Sister Lovers played a promising set, with the crowd knowing if they have luck on their side they’ll be back headlining venues, because this was not a warm-up, this was the future!!”

Throughout this, Sister Lovers set out to record their debut E.P, ‘Everybody’s Tryin’ (To Write a Comedy)’ in Tumbleweed Studios, Dundalk, with the early fruits providing the double A-Side Single, ‘You’ll Never Make it on your own/ Through the Red Door’. With the recording wrapped up in late September, Sister Lovers embarked on a series of dates across the UK and Ireland, playing venues in Cambridge, Belfast, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and culminating in a frenzied gig in London’s Shepherds Bush Empire.

The EP consists of five songs, and has been described as sounding like a mix between John Peel’s favourite jangle acts and the early days of US alternative college radio. The UK and Irish tour also saw British Label Polydor Records release the title track of Sister Lovers EP ‘Everybody’s Tryin’ (To Write a Comedy)’, as a limited edition 7” vinyl.

Finally, Sister Lovers are ready to unleash ‘Everybody’s Tryin’ (To Write a Comedy)’ to Irish audiences with a launch night in the Gonzo Theatre, Cavan on Monday, 27th December, and further dates for early 2011 to be announced soon.
